Peer Review Process

The peer review process aims to uphold the quality and integrity of scientific research by subjecting it to rigorous scrutiny from experts in the field. It helps ensure that published articles meet the standards of scientific rigor, accuracy, and relevance, and contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the respective discipline.

Peer review process is a critical evaluation and validation process for Sulaimani Journal for Engineering sciences that scholarly articles undergo before they are published. The process typically involves the following steps:

  1. Submission: Authors submit their research articles to the journal for consideration.
  2. Editorial Screening: The editorial team reviews the submission to ensure it meets the journal's scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards. They may also check for originality and conduct initial assessments of the article's quality and suitability.
  3. Peer Review Assignment: The editors assign the submitted article to independent experts in the field, known as peer reviewers. These reviewers have expertise in the subject matter and provide an unbiased evaluation of the article's scientific validity, methodology, significance, and originality.
  4. Peer Review: The assigned reviewers thoroughly examine the article and provide detailed feedback to the editor. They assess the research design, data analysis, conclusions, and overall contribution to the field. Reviewers may suggest revisions, point out flaws or inconsistencies, and offer recommendations for improvement.
  5. Decision Making: Based on the reviewers' feedback, the editor makes a decision regarding the article. Common decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, major revisions and resubmission, or rejection. The decision is communicated to the authors along with the reviewers' comments.
  6. Revision and Resubmission: If revisions are requested, the authors make the necessary changes to address the reviewers' comments and concerns. The revised article is then resubmitted to the journal for re-evaluation.
  7. Final Decision and Publication: The revised article undergoes a final review by the editor to ensure that the authors have adequately addressed the reviewers' comments. Upon acceptance, the article goes through the production process, including copyediting, typesetting, and formatting, before being published in the journal.
  8. Should researchers identify inaccuracies or errors in their manuscripts, they must notify the editor or publisher to make the necessary corrections. If authors recognize a significant mistake or discrepancy in their published work, they should collaborate with the journal's editor or publisher to rectify or amend the errors.
